The film adaptation of the Broadway musical, “Wicked” had its second part released in theaters this month, and has already grossed record box office sales in the United States.

Even with the large presence of fans in cinemas, analyzing the CNNbased on the Google Trendsthe first film was searched more than “Wicked: Parte 2“. Both debuted in the same week in the years 2024 and 2025.

Based on the musical of the same name, the films divided two acts and were released a year and a day apart, to generate greater audience engagement and divide the passage of time that occurs between them.

Selecting the previous week and the following week for each of the films released, it can be seen that the first release in history lasted longer, with the peak of searches being on November 24, 2024, three days after the premiere, taking another four days for the search to decrease by only 50%.

The second part of the film, “Wicked: For Good”, reached the top of the polls only on the day of its release, already having a drop of 16% and maintaining the same stability in relation to the previous week, as shown in the graph below:

Along with the films, searches for related subjects increase due to the songs that accompany the plot, in addition to characters such as Dorothy Gale and the Scarecrow, and, in part 2, the evaluations from specialized critical sites, such as Rotten Tomatoes.
