The trailer for The Odysseynext film from Christopher Nolan who directed Oppenheimerwas unveiled by Universal Pictures on Monday December 22. The Oscar-winning filmmaker tackles the Greek poet Homer’s mythical tale of the long return of Ulysses, played by Matt Damon, after the Trojan War. The Odyssey is expected in French theaters on July 15, 2026.

We discover a Matt Damon, often helmeted, prey to nature: sea, forest or even desert. He is the narrator of this extract of barely two minutes where his wife Pénélope, played by Anne Hathaway, try to make him promise he’ll come back. In the trailer also appears the actor Tom Holland who plays the son of Ulysses, Telemachus. Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and Robert Pattinson also appear in the film’s credits.

Nolan’s latest opus is a technological first. It is the first feature film shot with Imax cameras. The British filmmaker’s dream is finally coming true. Since 2008, reports Variety, le director tries his hand at the exercise he began by shooting action scenes from The Dark Knight: The Dark Knight (2008) with Imax cameras. Oppenheimer has been “the first to use 65mm black and white Imax film”still reports the specialized magazine.
