Tom Cruise returns to aim for the Oscars with Iñárritu’s new film and the teaser reveals the title of the project

Warner Bros Pictures has shared the first images of the Mexican director’s new feature film, arriving in cinemas in October.

Warner Bros and Legendary have revealed, sharing the first teaseril title of the new film directed by the Oscar winner Alejandro González Iñárritu con star Tom Cruise.
The feature film will arrive in American cinemas on October 2, 2026, a date that anticipates an almost certain presentation at one of the main film festivals, such as Cannes, Venice or Toronto.

What the teaser shows

The new film is called Digger and, as the official poster also reiterates, it will be a “comedy of catastrophic proportions“.
In the video we can see Tom Cruise who, for the occasion, has physically transformed.

The actor, in the video, is portrayed wearing cowboy boots and holding a shovel inside an apartment and on a dock.

The director, during the Cannes Film Festival, anticipated: “This is a crazy comedy. He makes me laugh every day. The variety I discovered working with Tom, as far as I’m concerned, is unprecedented in my career. I was fucking impressed and happy“.

The film star, however, had spoken about his collaboration with the filmmaker, claiming that it was “the most exciting moment of my life”.

Digger marks the return of Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu behind the camera after Bardo, produced in collaboration with Netflix.

The cast of the film will also include Emma D’Arcy, Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a fall), Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski), Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde e Michael Stuhlbarg.

Digger will have to face other titles like Verityan adaptation of a novel by Colleen Hoover that was directed by Michael Showalter and stars Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway.
