To fight the cold, 12 desert or scorching films and series

Tom Hardy in “Mad Max Fury Road” by George Miller
When the mercury is below zero, you must try to warm up by all means. Are you comfortably seated in your pilou pajamas under a faux fur blanket, a big bowl of soup on your knees, options of garlic croutons and grated cheese? You will now have to choose the right film or series to watch. To avoid freezing through a screen, stop watching Christmas films and other freezing Nordic series.
When you see Jon Snow facing the blizzard on the other side of the Wall, even if you are not sensitive to the cold, do you shiver? There’s no reason seeing John McClane running in a tank top shouldn’t raise the temperature a little. THE HuffPost offers you a selection of eight films and four “classic” series to watch or rewatch, in which the heroes sweat a little, or even a lot.
All George Miller saga films are guaranteed to be 100% hot. The trilogy with Mel Gibson, and the two most recent ones with Tom Hardy and Anya Taylor Joy take you into a very arid desert, even at the risk of making you thirsty.
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The first film in the horror saga takes place in Texas during the heatwave. The film was also shot during a heat wave, forcing the actors to have temperatures rising up to 48 degrees on the set, under the lights of the projectors.

“The Texas Saw Massacre”
Frank Herbert’s books and Denis Villeneuve’s films take place on the planet Arrakis, a desert covered with sand and rocks and where water is a very rare commodity. The actors, wearing thick costumes, also had to deal with scorching temperatures.
In the third part of the Die Hard saga, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Irons face off in the heart of New York. Agent John McClane spends the entire film sweating in a white tank top, and not just from stress.

- Stargate: the stargate
Roland Emmerich’s 1994 film takes researcher Daniel Jackson and Commander O’Neil to a distant, desert planet with similarities to ancient Egypt.
The first films in the saga which began in 1999, and which will soon be entitled to a sequel, take place in Egypt in the 1920s. The desert settings of Morocco served as a filming location for Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.
Adapted from the novel by John Grisham, Joel Schumacher’s 1996 film takes place in the stifling heat of Mississippi. Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock and Kevin Spacey star in this cult trial film.

Samuel L. Jackson in “The Right to Kill”
- The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Released in 1966, Sergio Leone’s film is an essential western. At issue: its photography, its actors (including Clint Eastwood), but also its stifling atmosphere and its blinding light.
Alan Ball’s series takes place in Louisiana in the imaginary town of Bon Temps. The misadventures of Sookie, Bill and company take place largely at night, vampires oblige, but are nonetheless devoid of numerous heatwave scenes.
HBO
Rutina Wesley is Tara in “True Blood”
The original series starring Michael C. Hall takes place in Florida. The serial killer (and criminal police analyst) is rampant in this state in the southeastern United States nicknamed the “Sunshine State” where temperatures often reach 40 degrees.
- True Detective seasons 1 and 2
The first two seasons of the detective anthology series take place respectively in Louisiana and California, two states where temperatures can rise very high. Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, as well as Rachel McAdams and Colin Farrell evolve in almost humid atmospheres.
Vince Gilligan’s series takes place in New Mexico. The scenes which feature Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul or even Dean Norris in the middle of the desert are numerous. One of the most famous shows the antihero Walter White in his underwear.
This list is obviously not exhaustive, we can also think of Sleepers, Lawrence d’Arabie, Apocalypse New, Waterworld, Indiana Jones, 12 years a Slave, The Surfer or even Alone in the World.
