It’s been around a long time, actually. The world premiere was in October 2024 Nightmares Film Festivaland throughout 2025 the film has garnered enthusiasm and acclaim at genre festivals such as FrightFest of London or lo Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Los Angeles, considered “the Sundance of horror”. And now, on January 23, 2026, it is about to debut theatrically and digitally in the United States. We’re talking about Dooba Doobathe film by Ehrland Hollingsworth (writer and director) which those who have seen describe it as one of the most interesting variations on the theme of found footage.
Told entirely through the security cameras inside an American residential home, and inspired by certain trends in analog horror popularized by YouTube, the film stars Amna, a girl who arrives in the house in question to babysit what she thinks is a very normal little girl. In reality, not only is Monroe 16 years old, but she suffers from disorders and anxiety due to having witnessed her brother’s murder when she was little. For Amna it will not only prove to be a difficult job, but scary and potentially deadly, because Monroe seems to want to do nothing but terrorize her babysitter in every way possible, and what her limit is is not clear.
