Streaming: Perhaps the best adventure trilogy since Indiana Jones – stunning visuals, action-packed and hugely entertaining
A good alternative to the legendary hat-wearing archaeologist.
Without a doubt, Indiana Jones is and remains the undisputed king of the adventure genre. The first three films about the archaeologist with his whip, in particular, still captivate audiences even after hundreds of viewings and can rightly be celebrated as milestones in the history of cinema. But what if, for once, you don’t feel like watching Harrison Ford’s search for the Ark of the Covenant, the Sankara Stones, or the Holy Grail tonight?
In that case, you’ll be surprised by The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and The Mummy – Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, a trilogy of action-packed and very entertaining adventure films – although not exactly on the same level as the Indiana Jones saga (especially the third film, which simply can’t compete).
This is what The Mummy is all about
In 1719 BC, a forbidden love affair between the high priest Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) e Anck-Su-Namun (Patricia Velásquez) is discovered. As punishment, Imhotep is mummified alive in Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead. Almost four millennia later, the American adventurer Rick O’Connell (Brendan Fraser) accidentally awakens the mummy during archaeological digs, unleashing ancient and sinister chaos that also involves the historian Evelyn (Rachel Weisz)…

Rick e Evelyn are now married and have an eight-year-old son named Alex (Freddie Boath). On an expedition, the family discovers an ancient bracelet that belonged to the legendary Scorpio King (Dwayne Johnson). Once the artifact arrives in London, the O’Connells are pursued by Do it (Velásquez), the reincarnation of Anck-Su-Namun. When Alex accidentally reveals an ancient secret, Rick and Evelyn must face not only Imhotep, but also the powerful Scorpion King…

Universal Pictures
Rick and Evelyn (this time played by Maria Bello) are persuaded by the British government to deliver a valuable gemstone to Shanghai. There, they meet Evelyn’s brother, Jonathan (John Hannah), and the now adult Alex (Luke Ford). But the delivery quickly turns into a dangerous adventure, as the family finds themselves embroiled in a sinister conspiracy and encounters the sorceress Zi Yuan (Michelle Yeoh), the cursed Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) and his army of 10,000 soldiers.
The trilogy And the Mummy is on Telecine (via Globoplay or Prime Video).
