Starfighter hires a legendary actor just to film a scene

The Mandalorian & Grogu might just be overshadowed by another cinematic event from the galaxy far, far away. Less than two years from its release, Star Wars : Starfighter is already on everyone’s lips. It must be said that in addition to offering a completely new story of mythology, the film has the advantage of bringing in Ryan Gosling to take the lead. Behind the scenes, director Shawn Levy is also expected as the Messiah, he who revitalized Marvel at a time of scarcity in theaters. Deadpool & Wolverine collected it $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office in 2024, a first since Spider-Man : No Way Home and the bitter failures of The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to name just a few.

Starfighter even attracts the attention of seventh art legend, Steven Spielberg visited the set according to Levy. He is obviously not the only one, and some are not content to play observers. One morning in November, the actor arrived with his helicopter to the music of Mission: Impossible tells The New York Times. Initially a simple observer, he was invited by Shawn Levy to film a lightsaber fight scene. “Levy was planning a scene that included lightsabers in water. He suggested that Cruise go behind the camera. He thought he was making a joke, but now Tom Cruise is wading through a muddy pond, camera in hand, doing it like a pro.” Shawn Levy is delighted to have been able to bring such a moment to life and is excited at the idea of ​​spectators discovering the scene in the cinema.

We will have to wait until 2027 to see what the scene is worth, and more broadly the film announced in 2025 at the Star Wars Celebration Tokyo. For now, the plot remains very mysterious. We only know that it will follow a pilot responsible for protecting a young boy. We will be five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, five years after Palpatine’s last defeat. Facing Gosling, spectators will discover the characters portrayed by Mia Goth (Frankenstein), Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), Amy Adams (Premier Contact) and Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge).
