Parabellum’ that experts have praised for being extremely realistic

The vast majority of scenes in the ‘John Wick’ saga are completely implausible, but although it may seem incredible to us, others have been praised for their realism in terms of the behavior of weapons and ballistics. One of them takes place in the third installment, ‘John Wick 3: Parabellum’and has been verified by experts thanks to the real behavior of bullets underwater.

And in the scene we see below these lines, John Wick falls into an indoor pool along with an enemy, leaving both of them completely submerged. Then the following happens:

The protagonist’s enemy fires three bullets when both are separated by just two meters, losing speed along the way due to the density of the water, causing Wick to emerge completely unscathed from the blast. On the other hand, Keanu Reeves’ character manages to get close to fire two shots at point-blank range, the only way for firearms to be effective in these circumstances.

Experts have put this scene as an example of the effect of bullets underwater, since usually, in movies, we see how shots do not vary their trajectory or speed, something that is not realistic at all. Water is about 800 times denser than air, which obviously has an effect on bullets..

“‘John Wick 3′ It is the first film I have seen that so clearly demonstrates the effect of water on the trajectory of a bullet. without taking the time to guide the audience to explain the underlying physics,” explains Alex Hollings, a former US Marine. “Instead, Wick simply shows the action as it would unfold and continues, respecting the viewer enough to assume they’ll understand it, even if it’s something they’ve never seen on screen before.”
