Josh Hutcherson took a risk on “Five Nights At Freddy’s 2”
Even after 24 years of career, the actor Josh Hutcherson33, found new challenges in acting. The artist returns to “Five Nights At Freddy’s” to star in the sequel as Mike Schmidtand told the CNN who “took risks” in unprecedented scenes for his career. The film opens this Thursday (4) in cinemas.
Although experienced in action productions (ranging from “The Hunger Games” to “Journey to the Center of the Earth”), Josh Hutcherson revealed that “Five Nights At Freddy’s 2” took him to new territories — both physically and emotionally.
“There were some action sequences where I did stunts and things I had never done before,” said the actor.
Without detailing the scenes, according to him to avoid giving “spoilers” for the film, he guaranteed that the result was “really great”.
“There were sequences with a lot of animatronics, a lot of choreography, long and intense scenes.”
Hutcherson also highlighted that the work deepens the universe presented in the first film — and diving into this darker side was another type of artistic risk.
“I think fans will see this more psychological and turbulent side of Mike. He’s still a good guy, but he’s going through something deeper,” he explained. For the first time, the public will also see the actor take on an almost paternal role: “As Abby’s older brother, I’m practically her father. I’ve never done that before.”
For the actor, the “Five Nights At Freddy’s” franchise is much more than just a work of horror.
“When I met Emma Tammi, the director, and we started talking about the script, Mike, and the themes we were going to explore, that’s when I knew it would be something cooler than just a horror film. She wanted to do something that touched on themes like loss, regret, obsession”, reported the interpreter.
Fans of the work will have contact with even more unprecedented elements.
“I’m excited for fans to delve deeper into the world of Freddy’s. I think, in this film, we explore more of Vanessa’s past with her father, we enter the story of Freddy’s in new ways and we begin to reveal new mysteries, new lies and darkness”, he guaranteed.
“Five Nights At Freddy’s” is an adaptation of the video game series in which players take on the role of night security guards at the pizzeria “Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza” and try to save themselves from attacks by the pizzeria’s animatronic characters who come to life at night.
Completing the cast are names like Matthew Lillard (“Scooby Doo”), Elizabeth Lail (“You”), Piper Rubio (“Holly & Ivy”), McKenna Grace (“Ghostbusters”), Freddy Carter (“Shadow and Bone”), Wayne Knight (“Jurassic Park”), Skeet Ulrich (“Scream”) and Teo Briones (“Chucky”).
After three days in theaters, the first film grossed US$130.6 million in cinemas around the world, with US$78 million in the United States alone, followed by US$10.8 million from Mexico, US$6.3 million from the United Kingdom, and R$3.9 million from Brazil.
