Harry Potter look-alike from Bahia changes stage name after notification from Warner Bros.
The arrocha spell had to undergo legal adaptation. The Bahian singer and lookalike, who went viral on social media as “Harry the Wizard”, announced this Tuesday (6) that will change his stage name. From now on, he will only sign as The Witcher.
The decision was communicated by the artist himself in a video published on social media. According to him, the change was prompted by a notice from Warner Bros. discovery, entertainment giant that owns the rights to the “Harry Potter” franchise.
The company would have contacted the singer’s legal advisor informing them about the impossibility of using the brand.
“Warner Bros, which is a respected company and one that I respect a lot, got in touch with our trademark and patent office and explained that we could not be using that name,” explained.
He even joked about the situation of being a lookalike of the British character. “Guys, I’m not Harry Potter. But out of respect for this wonderful brand and this entire trajectory, I’m removing the name ‘Harry’ from social media. It will just remain ‘The Wizard’. I hope you understand”, these.
Despite the forced change, the artist maintains a solid fan base. On Instagram, he accumulates more than 900 thousand followers. On Spotify, where his profile still had his old name until this article was written, he added almost 500 thousand monthly listeners.
