Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 debuts with one of the worst horror scores of 2025

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 debuted with one of the worst performances for a horror film in 2025 on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel opened with just 13% approval, less than half the score of the first feature, which scored 33%.

The result places the new film among the worst-rated horror titles of the year, alongside productions such as O Ritual (9%), Bloat (29%), The Home (30%), The Woman in the Garden (41%) e Cursed Present (44%).

To date, the film still does not have a rating from the public, as it has less than 50 verified reviews. The contrast, however, draws attention: the first Five Nights at Freddy’s To this day, it maintains a solid rating of 86% among viewers.

Directed again by Emma Tammi, the film takes place a year after the events of the original and finds Abby (Piper Rubio) trying to reconnect with her old animatronic friends. The decision raises concern in his brother Mike (Josh Hutcherson), who dives into an investigation into the true origins of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

The cast of the sequel features the returns of Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail and Matthew Lillard, as well as new additions Megan Fox, such as Toy Chica, Mckenna Grace, Wayne Knight and Skeet Ulrich (known as Panic). Teo Briones (Premonition: Blood Ties), Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bones) e Theodus Crane (The Walking Dead).

Young actress Piper Rubio returns to play Abby, while voice actor Kellen Goff, known for the original Abby games, Five Nights at Freddy’swill voice Toy Freddy. The “Animatronics” — Toy Freddy, Toy Chica and Toy Bonnie — are updated and even more sinister versions of the characters seen in the first film.

The first film, released in 2023, was a box office phenomenon, grossing more than 290 million dollars worldwide and becoming the biggest success in Blumhouse’s history.
