Doomsday’ Second Teaser Leaks Online Featuring Thor’s MCU Return

While Marvel Studios intended to showcase the next teaser for Avengers: Doomsday in theaters later this week, fans have been treated to yet another leak. The first trailer featured Chris Evans’ long-awaited return as Steve Rogers, but he won’t be the only original member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes joining the fight against Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.). The second of four planned teasers features the mighty return of an MCU iconic.

The second teaser for Avengers: Doomsday is now hitting theaters across the globe, which has naturally led to it being leaked online. The footage confirms the return of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, praying to Odin as he prepares to enter another fight to save the universe. The reception to the first teaser was decidedly mixed, but MCU fans are already liking the more serious tone for Thor, who was last seen in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. One user stated that the scene “goes so unbelievably hard,” while another stated that they wished Waititi “goes to jail for what he did to Thor.”

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. The film is debuting at least four new teasers with the release of Avatar: Fire and Ashwhich dominated the box office during opening weekend. Current speculation and rumor mill points to the third tease revolving around Downey Jr.’s villainous turn as Doctor Doom, while the fourth will be a general teaser trailer featuring more footage. Marvel Studios has yet to debut the Evans’ led teaser online yet, so it would be shocking if they did so in the coming weeks for the rest. Until then, a theater ticket to Fire and Ash is the only way to see a high-quality version of the Avengers: Doomsday preview.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Joins a Jam-Packed ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast

While Chris Evans was not a part of the official cast announcement for Avengers: DoomsdayChris Hemsworth had his own chair in the viral video from March earlier this year. His inclusion in the new teaser is not shocking, especially since he is one of the few leftovers from the pre-Endgame era still active in the MCU. However, it seems he is a part of a bigger initiative by Marvel Studios to re-introduce the “big three” of Evans, Hemsworth, and next, Robert Downey Jr., to general audiences. Whether this will work is unclear, though the early consensus thus far is murkier than what the studio might have hoped for.

The rest of the Avengers: Doomsday cast Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright as Shuri / Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, and Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
