The audiovisual production, approximately 40 minutes long, covers key moments in Tolkien’s life through sequences filmed in Oxford and Birmingham. The documentary places special emphasis on his deepest motivations, showing how his Catholic faith marked his imagination and creative intelligence, to the point of provoking—as its promoters point out—a kind of “baptism of the imagination” in many of its readers.

Among the topics addressed are the writer’s childhood, deeply marked by his mother’s conversion to Catholicism; his training at the Birmingham Oratory, founded by Saint John Henry Newman; his experience in the First World War; and his close friendship with CS Lewis, in whose conversion to Christianity he played a determining role. The documentary also highlights the importance that Tolkien gave to family life, as well as the Catholic background present in his main literary works.

The work has been carried out by Edy Rodríguez Morel, host of the television program EWTN Noticias and the radio space EWTN Más que Noticias, who offers an accessible and documented look at the spiritual dimension of the British author.

According to the information provided by the Peruvian Catholic Tolkien Association, the documentary was released on YouTube and on the social networks of both this association and the Peruvian Tolkien Society. The Peruvian Catholic Tolkien Association develops a cultural apostolate inspired by the interest aroused by Tolkien’s works, seeking to bring readers closer to faith through literature and beauty.
