If the year 2026 is still very young and full of uncertainties, there are still sure values… like the well-stocked catalog of the Disney+ streaming platform, including an offering of more than 2,300 films.

But you still have to navigate between the Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel franchises and everything else! This is why The Digitals is here to advise you, and has selected for you, just like last month, the ten best films to find on Disney+ in January 2026.

What are the best films to watch on Disney+ in January 2026?

Memory in the skin

A man between life and death is pulled from the ocean by an Italian fishing boat. Having regained his senses, he realizes that he suffers from total amnesia and that he has no identity document with him. The many talents he discovers, combat techniques and knowledge of several languages, suggest to him a dangerous past. Helped by the initially recalcitrant Marie, he embarks on a desperate search to find his identity and the reason that pushes ruthless assassins to hunt him down.

First part of the Jason Bourne saga, Memory in the skin already has all the good ingredients that will make it famous, without the frenetic staging of Paul Greengrass which will leave its mark. And for good reason, the film is by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow). Memory in the skin is therefore a little apart in the franchise, and offers a spy thriller certainly more European and less ambitious but no less captivating, which is worth the detour for its young Matt Damon and excellent supporting roles: Franka Potente, Chris Cooper, Clive Owen, Julia Stiles…

Taken

Bryan, a former member of the secret service, witnesses the kidnapping of his daughter by telephone and without being able to intervene. Engaged in a real race against time, this determined father is the only one who can rescue her from the hands of a dangerous criminal organization. He will stop at nothing to find her.

Under the direction of Pierre Morel and with a screenplay by Luc Besson, Taken propels a ruthless Liam Neeson into the heart of Paris. This first opus of the trilogy stands out as a brutal and nervous action film. Taken will above all establish a modern rereading of the “vigilante movie” which will be a landmark, and which will notably allow Liam Neeson to offer an unexpected second wind to his career. Not a masterpiece, but a formidably effective film.

Shrek

Shrek, a greenish, cynical and mischievous ogre, has taken up residence in a swamp which he believes to be a haven of peace, but it is disturbed by creatures. Shrek goes to Lord Farquaad who promises to rid his swamp of invading beings if he frees Princess Fiona from an abominable dragon. However, it hides a terrifying secret that will lead Shrek into a thrilling and perilous adventure.

Are you tired of the same stories about princesses and knights? Shrek is for you! A hilarious retelling of a fairy tale, sprinkled with tasty modern references and cult scenes, this Dreamworks production, which also won the very first Oscar for best animated film, perhaps displays graphics that are a little dated today, but the gags haven’t aged a bit. Shrek still remains, almost 25 years after its release, a funny and regressive little joy to watch and rewatch without moderation.

Vice-Versa 2

Riley is now a teenager, which is not without triggering a major upheaval within the headquarters, which must face something unexpected: the arrival of new emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, which have worked successfully for a long time, do not really know how to react when Anxiety arrives. And it seems she’s not the only one…

Ce Vice-Versa 2 develops its concept nicely and is populated with new ideas and exciting characters. If the film lacks the element of surprise and a little emotion to carry us away as the first part brilliantly did, it remains a generous opus and a successful sequel which makes you want to see more about its universe… and to wait for a third film.

Back to the future

In 1985, Marty, a teenager like any other, leads a dull and boring existence. Fortunately, he is in love with the pretty Jennifer and maintains a deep friendship with Doc, a mad scientist who claims to have invented a time machine. One day, Doc invites Marty to try it…

A timeless classic from the 80s, Back to the future has not lost its charm, its energy and its evocative force 40 years after its release. Robert Zemeckis takes the teen movie genre and inflates it with the brilliant idea of time travel to deliver a funny, fast-paced and impeccably paced adventure. From the magical music of Alan Silvestri to the Michael J. Fox / Christopher Lloyd duo, including this legendary Delorean, everything in Back to the future carries us away with formidable efficiency. A cult trilogy, quite simply.

The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain

Amélie, a young waitress in a bar in Montmartre, spends her time observing people and letting her imagination wander. She has set a goal: to do good for those around her. She then invents stratagems to intervene incognito in their existence.

Often mocked (by the French) for its very “postcard” vision of Paris, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s film nonetheless remains a true cinematic gem. A joyful and moving adventure in the life and mind of a woman like no other, full of inventiveness and a thousand visual or narrative ideas. It’s funny, it’s charming, it’s touching, and it’s carried by a cast of impeccable French actors. A true masterpiece to rediscover.

A Perfect Stranger

New York, early 1960s. At the heart of the bustling music and cultural scene of the time, an enigmatic 19-year-old man arrives in the West Village from his native Minnesota, with his guitar and an extraordinary talent that will forever change the course of music.

Timothée Chalamet (Dune, Wonka) brilliantly embodies the iconic Bob Dylan in front of James Mangold’s camera (Walk the Line, Logan), in a biopic that avoids the trap of the simple filmed Wikipedia page. The inspired portrait of an era, of youth, of music and of an artist drawn through the eyes of those who knew him. A neat biopic, both for fans and the curious.

The Mummy is a real gem from the 90s. A great jubilant film, mixing epic sequences and humor, with a thrilling adventure story. In the pure spirit ofIndiana JonesStephen Sommers’ film owes a lot of its charm to the crazy alchemy of its lead actor duo, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. A little joy, to be seen without moderation.

Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom

Several generations after Caesar’s reign, the apes definitively took power. Humans have regressed to the wild and live in seclusion. While a new tyrannical leader gradually builds his empire, the young monkey Noa undertakes a perilous journey that will lead him to question everything he knows about the past, but also to make choices that will define the future of apes and humans.

Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom is a solid and captivating opus, which returns to the roots of the saga thanks to its refreshing approach. Far from global considerations and open wars against humans, the film offers a refreshing reflection on heritage, the passing of time, the confrontation of ideas and the power of knowledge, all carried by a gallery of characters of astonishing complexity. A visual feast which is certainly not free from faults, but which cements Planet of the Apes as one of the most interesting franchises in the current blockbuster landscape.

The Dream Life of Walter Mitty

Walter Mitty is an ordinary man, locked in his daily life, who only dares to escape through dreams that are both funny and extravagant. But faced with a difficulty in his professional life, Walter must find the courage to take action in the real world. He then embarks on an incredible journey, to experience an adventure much richer than anything he could have imagined until now. And that should change his life forever.

If the month of October demotivates you, The Dream Life of Walter Mitty is the movie you need. Adapted from the short story of the same name by James Thurber, the feature film is an inspiring story ideal for dreamers, which follows a simple office worker lacking courage, and who decides to take the plunge. In the lead role, Ben Stiller moves away from his usual comic characters to deliver a more tender and bittersweet score. He gives his Walter Mitty a gentleness and humanity that will speak to everyone. On his way, the character will encounter a gallery of supporting roles and varied characters, sometimes exuberant, sometimes disturbingly authentic, embodied by a high-quality cast. An excellent, inspiring, dense, generous, antidepressant and “feel good” film.
