A24’s romantic comedy with Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller premieres on December 4

The romantic comedy “Eternity”starring Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen e Callum Turnerdebuts in Brazilian cinemas in December 4th. Directed by David Freynethe film is a production of A24 and also features in the cast Da’Vine Joy Randolph e John Early.

In the plot, set in an afterlife where souls have just one week to decide how to spend eternity, Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) finds herself faced with an impossible choice: remain with the man with whom she built a lifetime, Larry (Miles Teller), or relive the passion of her first love, Luke (Callum Turner), who died young and waited for her for decades. Between the intensity of youth and the security of a shared life, she needs to make a definitive decision, with no possibility of return.

The film’s universe takes place in a kind of station where spirits arrive at the age of their peak of happiness and are impacted by advertisements and “eternity” options, which vary between themed worlds, such as the Capitalist World, the Surfing World and the World of Childhood. This scenario, described by Hey Myersfollows an aesthetic inspired by the brutalist architecture of the 1960s, merging a train station, exhibition pavilion and hotel into a single structure.

Responsible for the costume, the Oscar winner Angus Strathie developed a wardrobe that spans more than 50 years of the protagonist’s life, following her different phases in flashbacks that range from childhood to adulthood. The soundtrack is written by David Flemingwinner of the 2024 ASCAP Screen Music Award for his work on the series “The Last of Us”.

Second David Freynethe film is a celebration of love in its multiple forms. Already Elizabeth Olsen states that “Eternity” distances itself from the traditional love triangle, as Joan’s decision takes place outside any common time frame. To Miles Tellerthe film combines comedy, poetry and reflection on life, love and loss, while Callum Turner defines the work as visually striking and emotionally intense.
