It’s horror month, my friends! In the spirit of Octoberexactly as we have done in recent years, the Omelet decided to feed the horror aficionado that exists in you with some of your favorite genre films from our newsroom.

But 2025 is also a special year – after all, we have reached the quarter mark of the 21st century, and it was incredible that these 25 years were for terror! Reinventing yourself as a favorite indie by the hands of A24 to a return to global popularity with productions from Blumhousegoing through non-Hollywood phenomena and the rise of a Brazilian horror cinema that hadn’t been strong in this way for some time, horror fans didn’t go hungry in these post-2000 years.

Therefore, we gathered our team and tried to understand what the 31 Best Horror Films of the 21st Century (So Far). After a lot of voting and a lot of deliberation, the list you find here was the result – and we know you won’t agree with it, but cinema has those. It’s impossible to encompass the entire genre in one list, no matter its size, but our best attempt is below.
