Comedy with Ingrid Guimarães and Mônica Martelli has changed title and is POSTPONED from Christmas to 2026 – CinePOP

Fans will have to wait a little longer to watch Ingrid Guimarães e Monica Martelli on the big screen.

My friend‘, which was to be released in national cinemas at Christmas, was postponed and had its title changed.

Now how’My Best Friend‘, the film opens in theaters on May 28, 2026 and escapes the competition of ‘Anaconda‘.

The film tells the story of Júlia (Monica Martelli) and Clara (Ingrid Guimarães), two longtime friends in their 50s who face “empty nest syndrome” when their 15-year-old daughters embark on an exchange program in Portugal. Homesickness drives women to get out of their routine, organize a surprise trip to Europe and strengthen their bonds during an adventure full of difficulties — even in a Portuguese-speaking country.

The film is directed by Susana Garciarenowned for successes such as My Mother is One Piece 3, My Life on Mars and My Sister and Me. The script has the collaboration of the direction itself, in addition to Ingrid Guimarães, Mônica Martelli, Andrea Batitucci and Luisa Capri.

Filming took place in a variety of enchanting settings, such as Lisbon, Seville and Rio de Janeiro, capturing both the magic of urban life and the challenges of international travel.

The plot was inspired by real experiences lived by the actresses with their own daughters. The fun situations and unexpected events they shared on social media during a trip to Europe served as the basis for the script. Ingrid and Mônica got to experience the moment of saying goodbye to their daughters in the middle of 2024, which made everything even more authentic and moving.
